Nurse Practitioner

WorkPac Health and Social Care are seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner to fulfil a three month contract within the largest correctional centre in Australia. Clarence is a state-of-the-art Correctional Facility in NSW is approximately 3.5 hours from Brisbane and 6 hours from Sydney.

Job Role

The role of the Nurse Practitioner is to provide assessment and intervention strategies to support and manage patients at an advanced and extended nursing level. Reporting to the Health Services Manager, you will be responsible for providing general nursing care to patients whilst also being able to assist in emergency medical responses, prescribe medications/vaccinations, order diagnostic investigations and direct referral to other health care professionals. You will adhere to the competencies, guidelines and codes of professional standards as detailed by Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), as well as all site Policies and Procedures, legislative requirements and clinical governance directives.

The role will contribute to embedding the facilities key operating principles:

- Promoting the rehabilitation and reintegration of inmates

- Ensuring the safety and security of inmates and the community

- Providing a decent and respectful environment to staff, inmates and visitors

- Actively participate in the centreâs accreditation and quality improvement processes

Experience and Requirements

- Minimum 3 years full time experience in an advanced practice nursing role

- Experience in clinical assessment, care planning, review and discharge planning of individual patients including ongoing regular reviews

- Current unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)

- Master of Nursing Practice

  • - Endorsement by the Nurses and Midwives Board of Australia (NMBA) to provide patient care in an advanced and extended clinical role

- Current Provide Basic Emergency Life Support (HLTAID010) or ALS

- Current National Criminal History Check certificate

- Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident required for Corrective Services Clearance NSW
