About the role

This role is based around providing support to adults with mental health issues living within a shared accommodation service. The successful applicant will be responsible for aspects of the clients daily living routine which can range from personal care and domestic assistance to community access and social support which will require the following:

* Supporting clients to make decisions and have choices
* Supporting clients to identify and achieve goals
* Promoting independence and independent living skills among clients
* Assisting with appointments and transport needs
* Engaging clients within their communities
* Assisting with any personal care necessary
* Administering medication

Essential Requirements:

Education:
* Certificate IV in Mental Health or similar discipline

Experience and understanding:

* A minimum of 6 months paid experience in a Supported Independent Living
* An understanding of a range of different mental health illness and how they may affect the individual
* Experience administering medication
* Demonstrated experience managing complex and challenging behaviors
* Understanding of professional boundaries
* Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

Certificates and licenses:
* Working with Children Check
* Willingness to undergo a police check
* Unrestricted NSW Driver's License
* Comprehensive car insurance
* Provide First Aid Certificate HLTAID003 less than 3 years old
* Provide CPR HLTAID001 less than 12 months old
* Mental health first aid and ASSIST training desirable
* Covid vaccinations a per NSW Health legislations
